We help you to develop plans both short term and long term that will lead to sustainability, creating strategies for increasing unrestricted and restricted donations.  We evaluate your contributed income need in light of potential fees and entrepreneurial potential as well.

In order to thrive, nonprofits must have a unified front.  The Board, The CEO and the staff must all be able to articulate the organization’s needs.  Understanding roles and interrelationship is also essential.  JWA provides Board and staff training and coaching that helps to insure that all members of the leadership team are working together toward success.

Unless your organization can clearly articulate your mission, vision and goals you will be hard pressed to increase contributed income.  We help you define your organization now, and look strategically into the future so that you can articulate this to your potential donors.

Strong fundraising programs require institutional memory, efficient acknowledgement systems and data tracking tools.  We look at your staff, your systems and your ability to back up donor development plans.

Time is the coin of the realm in fundraising.  If you don’t have a written plan for achieving your fundraising goals time will become your enemy.  Our plans take into account your current staff and leadership, their time, their talents and match them to your goals to create realistic short and long term plans to keep you on track.

We define annual fund as, “those dollars that are unrestricted and likely to repeat.”  Annual fund is only one part of every fundraising program, but it is often underdeveloped and misunderstood.  Our simple plans help you to grow unrestricted dollars.

Today’s nonprofits are finding that 90% of their funds are coming from 10% of the donors.  This means that major donors are most important to your fundraising program than ever.  We help you to create structures that build strong relationships with your donors leading to major gifts.

Even the most seasoned development professional benefits from having someone to bounce ideas off of.  Our profession is full of capable people who have no formal training.  A little coaching can make all the difference in the world for these professionals.  Likewise CEO and Board members often have little or no training in donor relations.  JWA can help you get ready for important lunches or special calls.

Strong Boards understand the value of training and development.  We work with you to get your Board in tip top shape.  From providing simple, topical one time training sessions, to organizing Board development committees that strategically recruit leadership, create policies and provide new member orientation programs, JWA does it all.

There is much to learn from similar organizations working in other regions.  Often you can avoid costly mistakes, learn resourceful techniques, and find systems that are uniquely suited to your needs from these organizations.  JWA conducts interviews on your behalf, reporting back insights and helping you to incorporate successful practices into your strategic and fundraising plans.

Good fundraising begins with a strong Case for Support.  We help that case to emerge from within your organization, and then we commit it to paper for you to use throughout your organization in the form of talking point, grants, newsletters, annual appeals and other marketing tools.

We can help you strategize your restricted giving (grant writing) programs so that you are seeking what you need from funders instead of morphing your programs to meet the perceived needs of those funders.  We can also help you to organize your “grants schedule” and develop strong systems for information collection and approval from program staff.  We can also provide basic grant writing services.

There are a myriad of materials that accompany fundraising programs – newsletters, web pages, brochures, appeal letters, invitations, holiday cards, donor envelops and more.  We can help write and design these documents.

Before you know it an event can become “the tail that wags the dog”.  Our skilled team can help you coordinate any of the many events that occur during the year from simple small luncheons to recognition celebrations, to large fundraising breakfasts, lunches or dinners.

Volunteers are at the core of most strong fundraising programs.  It is through volunteering with your organization that such potential donors become engaged in your organization.  Yet there are many considerations that organizations need to make when starting volunteer programs.  Will donors be working directly with children and/or finances and thus need background checks?  Do volunteers need a clear understanding of what is expected of them?  Are there performance issues to be considered?  Is an orientation needed, or a set of policies?  We can help you put the systems in place to insure that your volunteers are successful.
